Privacy Policy

Effective: February 11, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how The Archive of American Radio, Inc. ("the Archive"), a California corporation based in Los Angeles, California, USA, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Website Data Collection

The Service collects minimal data necessary to operate:

  • Search queries you enter
  • Basic analytics (page views, referrer)
  • Technical data (browser type, device type, IP address)

IP addresses and request metadata may be logged for security purposes, including detecting and preventing unauthorized automated access, scraping, and abuse. These logs are retained for up to 90 days.

iOS App Data Collection

Our iOS app collects the following data to provide core functionality:

  • Device ID: An anonymous identifier to sync your listening progress across devices
  • Listening History: Episodes played, playback position, and completion status
  • Listening Statistics: Time spent listening, daily totals, and listening streaks
  • User Preferences: Ratings, likes, playlists, and subscriptions
  • Issue Reports: When you submit feedback, we collect your message along with device model and app version

This data is stored on our servers (Cloudflare Workers and Turso database) and is linked to your device ID, not your personal identity.

What We Don't Collect

  • We don't collect your name, email, or contact information
  • We don't collect location data
  • We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics
  • We don't sell or share data with third parties
  • We don't collect crash logs or performance diagnostics

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time from within the iOS app by going to Settings and selecting "Delete Account." This permanently removes all listening history, preferences, and associated data from our servers.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies for site functionality. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Security Monitoring

The Archive employs technical measures to detect and prevent unauthorized access, scraping, and data harvesting. These measures include rate limiting, bot detection, request logging, and automated blocking of suspicious activity. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your access patterns may be monitored for security purposes.

Third-Party Services

Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling. Payment processing is handled by Polar; we never receive or store payment card information.

California Privacy Rights

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Since we collect minimal data and do not sell personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. If you have questions about your data, contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
